  15. Poland from 1970 to 1980; and his wife Alicja Solska, a former
  16. journalist; he by strangulation, she from a rifle shot; in
  17. Warsaw. Authorities believe the deaths resulted from "actions
  18. by a third party." Jaroszewicz imposed policies that brought
  19. Poland's economy to collapse and sparked the 1980 strikes
  20. leading to the creation of the Solidarity trade union movement.
